DFEH Launches Portal For State Bar Disciplinary Charge Notices

California Rules of Professional Conduct require submission of certain notices to DFEH
Sacramento – The Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) today announced the launch of a portal for attorneys to submit notices of certain California State Bar disciplinary charges to the agency.
Under Rule 8.4.1 of the California State Bar Rules of Professional Conduct, California lawyers are prohibited from discriminating against or harassing any person on the basis of a protected characteristic. This prohibition extends both to the representation of clients as well as to the operation of a legal practice. See Rule 8.4.1 for more information.
A lawyer who receives a notice of a disciplinary charge under this rule must provide a copy of the notice to DFEH and other agencies. Lawyers may provide a copy of the notice using the new online submission form linked here. Lawyers may also navigate to the submission page by using the drop-down menu on DFEH’s homepage under “complaints” and clicking on “State Bar Discipline Notice.” DFEH will review the submission and determine whether further action is warranted.
