Alexis McKenna, Deputy Chief Counsel


Alexis McKenna serves as Deputy Chief Counsel at the Legal Division of the Civil Rights Department. Previously, she was Counsel for California’s Department of Industrial Relations at the Office of the Director, where she worked on matters to further the Department’s mission to protect the health, safety and economic well-being of California wage earners.

Alexis has over 20 years’ experience as an attorney specializing in civil rights matters. She was formerly a partner with Winer, McKenna, Burritt & Tillis, LLP for 13 years, where she represented plaintiffs in employment law claims. Alexis is a frequent lecturer and has had numerous articles published on the topics of labor and employment law and litigation. She is also a past-president of the Alameda Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association.

Alexis is a graduate of American University (B.A., Justice) and UC Hastings College of the Law (J.D.).
