Christian Acevedo, Councilmember



Councilmember Christian Acevedo has been a Deputy City Attorney at the City of Los Angeles since 2025. He was a Felony Trial Attorney at the Sacramento County Public Defender’s Office from 2022 to 2025.

Councilmember Acevedo was a Special Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Department of Justice from 2019 to 2022. He was a Judge Advocate at the United States Air Force from 2013 to 2019. Councilmember Acevedo is a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association, LA LGBTQ+ Lawyers Association, and is a Reserve Staff Judge Advocate for the United States Air Force. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis and a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Sociology and Criminology from the University of California, Irvine.

Councilmember Acevedo was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom on January 14, 2026, to serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring on December 31, 2026.
