Candice Cho, Chair
Councilmember Candice Cho is a lawyer and policymaker based in Los Angeles. She recently served as Vice President of the Human Relations Commission, a mayor-appointed advisory board to the Los Angeles Civil Rights Department.
Councilmember Cho previously worked as Managing Director of Policy and Counsel at AAPI Equity Alliance. She developed and executed public policy strategy for Stop AAPI Hate, the nation’s leading center tracking racism against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Before that she served as Deputy Chief of Staff at the New York City Law Department, where she advised the Mayor’s Office and City Council on sanctuary efforts to protect immigrant New Yorkers, and Chief of Staff to a mayor-appointed commission to amend the New York City constitution. She began her career as a legislative staffer for Senator Richard J. Durbin.
Councilmember Cho earned a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University, and Bachelor of Arts from Harvard College. She is admitted to practice in California and New York.
Councilmember Cho was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom on January 14, 2026, to serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring on December 31, 2028.
