Jamie Gillette, Deputy Director of Enforcement


Jamie Gillette was appointed as Chief Deputy Director at the California Civil Rights Department by Governor Gavin Newsom in October 2025. In this role, Jamie is responsible for providing oversight and high-level direction to all departmental divisions and programs. She works directly with senior leadership to develop and execute the department’s strategic plan, as well as develops and implements policies, processes, and programs.

Jamie joined CRD in June 2019 and served as Deputy Director for Enforcement for just over six years, where she was responsible for the strategic direction and performance of the team conducting all civil rights investigations. She led continual improvements to CRD’s processes and systems for investigating civil rights disputes in California. Prior to joining CRD, Jamie served the state of California for 21 years in various roles at the California Franchise Tax Board, including as the Assistant Bureau Director in the Filing Division at FTB. She was a key member of the FTB team that implemented a new tax return filing and payment processing system with the goal of increasing efficiency, transparency, and services to taxpayers.
