Stephanie A. Pullés, Assistant Deputy Director, Workforce Data Officer



Stephanie A. Pullés is a sociologist committed to producing high-quality research to drive impact on policies that promote equity, opportunity, and mobility in the labor market.

As the Workforce Data Officer for the California Civil Rights Department, Stephanie oversees a statewide data collection program for pay data reporting. In addition, her current work focuses on applying statistical analysis to identify and remedy systemic discrimination in the workplace.

With over a decade of experience as a quantitative social scientist and researcher in academic, government, industry, and policy settings, Stephanie has a wide range of expertise in quantitative analytical methods, including advanced statistical methods, survey methodology, and demographic analysis. She has previously held roles as a statistician and data scientist at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, mathematical statistician at the U.S. Census Bureau, user experience researcher at Google, and economist at the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Stephanie graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with a Ph.D. in sociology, an M.A. in sociology, a B.A. in economics with a statistics minor, and a B.A. in comparative literature with an emphasis in critical theory.
